So, just another blip on the bank account. Realized that the MotoGP premiere in Qatar is during my vacation, might do a quick pitstop on my way home there. Got to be pretty warm I suppose 
Hotels seem expensive also. I guess that is what you get in middle east. I will decide when I get closer to travelling home. Flights from Kuala Lumpur are cheap also. Would be nice to se the Petronas Towers.
The rumors were true. No retroactive salary was paid this month. Which is pretty impressive since we 80% seems to be administration on this company. Not even had the salary been adjusted to 2009 level yet. It seems pretty obvious that they want us to quit. We might do that…
Todays rumors are that the retroactive pay raise might not be paid on Thursday as planned. But who am I to complain, it is only 13 months late. I mean, the salary is the one thing that tells you if you did a good work or not. All this crap about recession and stuff is just bullshit. The Firm still did lots’a cash last year and if you don’t pay your employees properly what will keep them onboard?
Everyone talks about the current recession. Probably not in the IT business. I haven’t seen people looking this hard for people to hire in a while. Everyone seems to be on the lookout för senior technicians. I have had a couple of recruiters calling me so far and that haven’t happened in a while. Finally got around to getting me a ‘new’ laptop. Will end up with a Sony Vaio P, with US keayboard. Got it cheap, 400EUR instead of those 1100EUR that is listprice. I guess it will run Debian/Ubuntu of some sort and prehaps a Windows install also. Switching GPS/Wifi on/off is not yet ready in Linux.
Last night my trusted old powerbook started to say ‘kling-kling-kling’ and everything hang. Should have seen that one coming, since it has been giving off an high pitched noice the last couple of months. So now there is a quest for a new one, might go for a new MacBook i guess. Wonder if I shall go for 13 or 15 inch screen. Got a 15 inch last time, I guess 13 will suffice, så it can be moved properly. Might even go for a Sony Vaio P series at first though…
As usual stuff is both good and bad. The bad peaks are usually higher, and now it seems really bad in some aspects. But at least the pay raise for last year is done now so hopefully it will show up on next paycheck. Got involved in a fun project building some clusters for some python stuff. I guess it’s going to rock since we are doing it with Nginx as frontend and OpenAIS clusterstack for loadbalancing. Maybe I should have one of these Miller’s just for the fun of it…
This might be the last day of work this week. Hopefully I will have the day off tomorrow due to some nice EU regulations regarding work hours. Gonna go set up a side gig and have some cake. Side gig’s are the best. Need to get some new hardware like a laptop, some supermotard rims and so on. Just one month to vacation!
January has passed. This year the conclusion is that it has been hellishly cold and lots of snow. Snow is fun, but -20 is not. At least the Volvo hasn’t broken down yet so it’s got to be a good sign. 6 weeks left until vacation, gonna be nice. Should book some hotel nights I guess. Any day now Watched last trip with the old Ninja at a trackday last night. Should get me a sports bike again I think. Anyone want to buy a Husaberg ?
