Sunday

It’s been a while now. Well, stuff has happened. Started my new work last week, which seems interesting. Also I have been studying for the CCSA exam on Tuesday. Checkpoint got some strange answers like the purpose of hide-nat, ‘Hide behind an imaginary IP’. I would really like som imaginary IP’s, I guess it’s those from CSI.
Managed to attend two weddings and a couple of birthday parties in August so now I think that my wedding quota is filled for this year. Two swedish and one vietnamese wedding seems to be enough. And thanks to Olivia I got a flat decently close to work, thank you ;)
I am also beginning to hate the software raid in Linux. Seems to be endless obscure problems like just dropping one of the disks randomly in a raid-5 set. This happened when I upgraded my filserver to Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. The only good outcome of that is that my laptop, running Windows 7, can talk to it over IPv6. But it smashed the raid-5, made my Popcorn hour not be able to use my old SMB mount and of course it took some fiddeling with VMWare to get it running. Feels more and more like Solaris is a good solution.

Toying around with new stuff

The other day the Facebook developers uploaded the Hiphop php sourcecode to the Github. This is appearantly not built for Ubuntu,  also their wiki says Ubuntu 9.04 build is experimental. I tried on 10.4 and ended upp with gcc dying with a compile error, “c++: Internal error: Killed (program cc1plus)”. I built good on Fedora Core 12 at least so I will have to do some testing on that.  This machine will get an upgrade any day now ;)
